&#^&^*@!

The comments on this blog currently get more spam than my regular e-mail accounts do, and it takes a LOT more work to deal with comment spam than e-mail spam. I use MT-blacklist, but a few spambots keep sneaking by. Oh well.

Comments

I find that closing any comments older than 7 or 8 days has taken care of most of my problems . . . so far. I've been doing this manually, but once you get over the initial hassle, you can do it every few days.

There is a movabletype plug in that closes comments after a set time, but I wasn't smart enough to set it up. If you are smart enough, it looks like a decent solution.

That's a good idea. Unfortunately I have this dream that someday people will be interested enough in old threads to leave real comments on them... but for that to be realistic I have to ask someone how to put the "recent comments" up in the sidebar. 'Til then, no discussion of brand-name medicines here.

Testing to see if comments are closed.
