Blogiversary

Today is the second anniversary of this blog. At least I remembered it this year.

Coming soon: More posts! I hope.

The hopeless romantic forgets his own anniversary? I'm shocked!

To love oneself--and remember one's own anniversaries--is the beginning of a lifelong romance.

I have to say, my relationship with my own blog has gone past the first fine careless rapture, where you just can't wait to get online so you can post, and you post at least once a day, and you just can't think about anything but posting.

Yes, first you start posting every couple of days and now you're only posting one, twice a week at most. Your posts have started getting shorter and more to your point, and you find that you're not writing extended, lingering descriptions as you once did. Eventually, as more and more of your posts become just link dumps, you'll feel guilty and start scheduling special "blog nights" on your calendar.

Or you just, to your shame, start spending time with another blog....

And then, one day, you look at your blog and think, "I'm not sure I know you anymore."

Then finally you part ways, leaving of yourself only the ache of memory.

But what happens when the other blog leaves you? Do you pick up the shards of your own wrecked blog life?

I wish I knew.

I appear to have suddenly shifted perspectives two comments ago. Can't imagine why.
